I think I'll go to grad school today.
“Do you think she woke up one morning and said: I think I'll go to grad school today.” - Legally Blonde (2001)
Actually, that’s kind of what happened.
It was a year since I had finished undergrad, I finally got a “grown up job”, and I was never serious about going back to school. It was a looming what if, but like the kombucha girl, I was very indecisive.
For fun, I started looking to see what kind of programs were out there and found that most of them had either past or very fast approaching deadlines. I’m talking days. I really did just have to wake up one morning and say “I think I’ll go to grad school.” I was accepted to my Alma Mater, Biola, and I had to turn in paperwork and pick classes a week before the semester started.
My career goals are still cloudy for me, but I know I want to be in an advising, managerial role where I can use my experiences and expertise to lead wisely. Even now, I can use what I learn in my current workplace and carry it through my future experiences. This MBA will develop me professionally and personally as a leader who can bring complex ideas to life and organize teams built on collaboration and efficiency.
I’m excited for what’s to come and I’m ready for the challenge, because I know it WILL be a challenge. But I can’t wait to walk across the graduation stage again, this time wearing a cool masters hood.
