H.S. SENIOR PROJECT | 2014-15

In order to graduate high school, we were required to complete a senior project on what ever we wanted comprised of many components throughout the year. I decided to revolve my senior year around fashion and explore the science and strategy of it because I love the industry and I wanted to explore its details. I chose to follow the process of fashion from concept to closet, answering a self-made question "What's the most important process of fashion merchandising to make the product most appealing to the consumer?" Throughout the year, in order to answer my question, I researched over one hundred articles, kept a blog of my progress, and completed 200 of the required 100 fieldwork hours. I came up with three answers to their year long question: design, execution, and store front. After coming this conclusion, I presented my yearlong findings in a three hour presentation included below.

REVIEW

There's so much that I learned from this project, and it really gave me a different look on the industry. Working in a design house showed me all the hard work and attention to detail that goes into one garment. In general, it taught me about the industry and reaffirmed the dream I have to work in it.

During my whole project, I learned a lot of skills, some specifically able to help my career. They are as follows:

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Analytics

  • Wordpress

  • Organization

  • Color Theory

  • Collaboration

  • Public Speaking
